Camping in your car in the winter… Not as crazy as it sounds. We piled tons of pillows and blankets in the back seat and trunk of our Chevy Cruze and headed to Zion National Park to meet Chantelle and Oliver for their adventure session. I went to high school with Chantelle and had not seen her for years! It’s crazy how fast time flies by.
What an adventure it was, we were supposed to meet Chan and Oli outside of the park at Gooseberry Mesa. Google Maps the directions to that place. I dare you. That’s what we did and we ended up on this dead end road that was super sandy. We got stuck. After getting unstuck we met up with Chan and Oil and followed them to the spot we would be camping at for the night. By this time it was super dark but we decided to hike around to see where we wanted to start taking pictures at sunrise. We got turned around and it took us longer than expected to get back to our cars. We Hunkered down in our cars for the night and drifted off to sleep. It was quite cozy believe it or not.
We woke up early the next morning on top of the windy freezing mesa. We put on our jackets and hiked to the edge. The view from up there was incredible. So many different hues of orange red and brown painted the earth below. We explored all around the Mesa then we stopped for some breakfast burritos and headed to the park.
We entered the park and drove to a random little spot and started hiking. Chan and Oli started climbing the walls of the canyon and and running around. Tayler and I followed to capture it all. Being the only ones there in that little area really made me have an appreciation for the ability to go out and explore in nature. Our next hike was to the pools. There were a few other people up there when we got to the pools but it was worth the hike there.
The whole day flew by so fast. Just being able to hang out and spend time doing what we love with the best couple is all I could ask for. Tayler made a video to document the adventure you can watch it here.
